Welcome to the Idaho Office of School Safety and Security
The 2016 Idaho Legislature created the Idaho Office for School Safety and Security for a single purpose; to support Idaho public schools in the creation of safe learning environments in the midst of an evolving threat environment. It is the mission of the Office to support safer student environments by meeting school communities at their point of need with assessment, training and expertise.
By statute, the Office will work from an ongoing triennial schedule to perform comprehensive onsite threat and vulnerability assessments, providing a summary of these reviews with individualized mitigation strategies suggested to each Idaho public school. In conjunction with assessment services, the Office will provide training and support delivered by professional safety and security analysts dedicated to the task. Additionally, the Office will provide a comprehensive repository of effective practices.
The Office will also notify school personnel of grant opportunities and emerging safety issues through the Health/Safety Alert notification service.
